The liquid output of a properly maintained and installed sewage treatment plant is normally clear and odourless.
Most manufacturers of sewage treatment plants offer a guaranteed effluent quality level, which normally at least meets the standards required by the Environment Agency for that application.
Discharges to watercourses normally require a slightly higher standard than discharges to a soakaway system.
